Frequently Asked Questions
What should I wear for a massage?
Wear whatever makes you feel comfortable. All clients should always keep their pants on. To make you feel comfortable, I am fully qualified and can massage through clothing if that is what you prefer, just let me know. Please see what is advised on the individual Treatment page.
I have never had a massage, before what should I expect?
Let me put you at ease, a massage is to help you relax, and you may be a little anxious not knowing what to expect, but I can assure you that you will enjoy the massage. I always ask what pressure you would like so that you will not get a massage that is too painful for you or too light. I quickly establish what your preference is, so you can just enjoy the massage. You are covered with towels the whole time apart from when massaging the area, e.g. left leg. My treatment room is warm, and I have a heated blanket too, should you need it. This is your time for you to relax and enjoy!
Why do I need to fill in a consultation form?
Completing the consultation form prior to the massage helps me identify any health concerns that may prevent you from having the massage or restrict it. It also helps me understand you and your lifestyle, so you can benefit from the massage afterwards. The form will tell me if you have any allergies or medication that may mean I have to change something in the way I would massage. The form is to ensure it’s safe for you to have a massage. All forms are locked away in a filing cabinet that only I have access to, and anything discussed is completely confidential.
Will I feel different after the massage?
Yes, you may feel more relaxed, or you may feel more energised. I always give an advice sheet to every new client to help them realise what to expect and what is best to do after their massage.
How often should I have a massage?
Everybody is different, so I treat everybody individually. I can discuss with you how often you should have a massage after your treatment.
The company I work for can pay for wellbeing massages. Would you honour this?
This is something I already do for clients; all you need to do is pay for the massage yourself, take a photo of my certificate of qualification and reclaim the massage back through your company’s procedure. I have never had any refused yet.
Are you insured?
Yes, I am insured and can produce my certificate of Business Insurance should you need to see it.
I also belong to CThA (Complementary Therapy Association), a leading professional multi-disciplinary association for the UK/Ireland that keeps me up to date with important information as a Complementary Therapist.
